Todd Markham

The University of Sydney, NSW, Australia

Dr. Todd Markham obtained his PhD in 2021 at Flinders Univeristy in collaboration with the CSIRO under the supervision of Associate Professor Martin Johnston (Flinders University) and Professor Peter Duggan (CSIRO, Flinders University). During this time he developed site-selective chemical transformations for the synthetic modification of the pyrethrins, an industrially relevant class of natural product insecticides produced by plants. In 2022, Todd joined the University of Sydney as a postdoctoral research associate with Prof Rachel Codd. Todd is currently a Research Fellow working in the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Sydney using his expertise in synthetic organic chemistry to contribute to a research program inspired by the microbial secondary metabolites known as siderophores, spanning natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry and chemical biology . Todd's recent work in natural product total synthesis has been recognised with the award of a CDDI Early Career Researcher Excellence Award in 2024 and the RACI Archibald D. Ollè prize in 2025.
